You live symbiotically with over 8 pounds of bacteria in and on your body.

The bacteria is essential for your life. They help produce and absorb vitamins necessary for your health and optimal function of your cells. They protect your body from infection. Think of it as a first line of defense for your immune function. They even affect your genetics and can turn on and off your genes…

 

So what happens when you take antibiotics?

Well, the antibiotics do not have the capabilities to only kill and “bad” bacteria. The very same pill designed to help you will also harm you by killing the “good” bacteria as well.

Also, they now know that some of the “bad” bacteria have gotten smart. They form a shield around themselves to protect them from the antibacterial medications. This makes the medicines ineffective.

With each repeated bout of using antibiotics, your body can potentially become more and more weakened and more susceptible to infections and illness. As your good bacteria diminishes, it can cause brain fog (yes, the bacteria in your gut communicates with your brain). It can cause low energy levels from lack of B vitamins (they help make theses).

So what can you do?

Well, first you can use something natural to kill the bad bacteria in your body. This natural ingredient can even break down the shield and penetrate the defenses of the tricky bacteria to kill them. Following the use of this ingredient, you can then replenish your “good” bacteria.

 

Here is a protocol I like to use:

For the first 10 days:

  1. Orally, use oregano oil you can buy here and take 3 capsules a day with food.
  2. Then get Collodial silver here.  You want to use the drops orally twice a day (full dropper of it).
  3. Then pour some of the silver into this nasal spray bottle here and spray your nostrils 3 times a day with 2 sprays each time in each nostril. This will kill the bacteria in your sinus cavity

 

Then for at least 30 continuous days:

  1. Get this oral probiotic here and take 1 a day.
  2. Get this probiotic here and CHEW it after brushing your teeth. This will help with the bacteria in your oral and sinus cavity.

After the 30 days, you should continue to take these on a daily basis:

  1. If you are a man, take this probiotic here daily.
  2. If you are a woman, take this probiotic here.

 

OK, as you use this protocol, you are assuring that your immune system will be optimized from a “first line of defense” perspective.

Below are supplements I would recommend to get to reduce inflammation in your body

Curcumin 95% Natural Turmeric Extract Powder (1/8 tsp / 400 mg per serving)

Chondroitin Sulfate Powder  (1/3 tsp / 1500mg per serving)

D-Glucosamine Sulfate Potassium Powder (1/3 tsp 1200 mg per serving)

Quercetin Dihydrate Powder (1/8 tsp 500mg per serving)

Stevia Extract Powder (a dash)

Hydrolyzed Collagen (Bovine) Powder (1 tsp 3 g per serving)

 

Melt 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a small cup and then take all the ingredients above and mix with a 1/2 tsp of cacao powder ( you can order on Amazon or get at any local health food store or Whole Foods). Mix it all and drink it 2 x a day.

Sleep better with these tips

Sleep is essential for health, for proper healing, for your brain to not be “Zombie-like”, etc…

Lack of sleep causes chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation causes 80% of ALL diseases…

So, one of the most important things you can do for health is to make sure you have optimal sleep.

Below are some tips you can use right now to sleep better. Keep in mind that any nutritional recommendations should be checked by your doctor before you implement them.

Tips

1. Turn off all electronics 2 hours before bed.
2. Use  blue light blocking glasses if you are going to be on electronics http://amzn.to/29LHWEc

3. Use 400mg of magnesium before bed.

4. Use 1000 mg of Glycine to induce sleep better

5. Use 500 mg of L-tryptophan to feel more sleepy

6. Use Apocynum Venetum to get into DEEP sleep more often and for longer to rest your body better.

7. Sit quietly and breathe in for 4 seconds and exhale for 8 seconds. Do this for 5 minutes before bed.

My Top 8 Tips For A Healthier You in 2016

 

While I am a Big fan of setting “Infinity Goals” and changing beliefs for a healthier you, I also recognize that you can benefit immediately from healthy actions to take NOW.

 

So below are my top 8 actions that I recommend to take your health to the highest level possible. It doesn’t matter if you are current very unhealthy or extremely healthy. I selected tips that will benefit you no matter where you are in the health spectrum.

Tip # 1 Know Your Blood

Your body needs every vitamin and mineral in the right amounts to function properly. Without adequate amounts your body loses its ability to fight disease, produce energy, regulate hormones, and deal with stress. There is only 1 lab that has the patent on the ability to test every vitamin and mineral as well as your overall “anti-oxidant” status (how well can your body defend against disease). Tip # 2 Rotate Your Foods

Before the recent ability to ship food from one country to another, we humans had to eat foods that were in season only. Also, before industrial farming there were hundreds of varieties of apples, potatoes, and other fruits and vegetables. Now most people eat about the same things each week. The unnatural process of eating the same foods causes deficiencies in nutrients (see tip #1) and induces an allergic reaction to our foods.

By eating the same foods all the time, those foods (doesn’t matter if they are healthy and organic) will cause all of your cells to be inflamed. So try not to eat the same foods within a 4 day period. If you want to know which foods you are already sensitive to, you can learn more here.

Tip # 3 Hot And Cold Showers

Contrast baths have been used in Europe for centuries and studied in research for decades. It decreases overall inflammation, enhances muscle recovery, boosts your immune system, and definitely wakes you up!  So in the mornings run hot water (as hot as you can take it without burning your skin) for 2 minutes followed by 100% cold water (yes, this will not be fun for the first 10 seconds but I promise you will get used to it and actually enjoy it) for 2 minutes. Then repeat this process for 3 rounds. You will feel AMAZING and your aches and pains will reduce.

 

Tip # 4 Hug Someone Daily For 20 Seconds With This Technique

Think back to every time you have ever hugged someone. You go towards your left side and you probably do a little pat or rub on the other person’s back.  Now today I want you to try this. Hug someone going towards your RIGHT, don’t move your hands, and hold for > 20 seconds.

This will be a completely different feeling. Just do it and be completely in tune to your body and your feelings. I promise it will help. If you need a little left brain science to motivate you, here is the information. You will release more oxytocin in your body which helps improve feelings of trust, increases healing rate, improve immune function, and boosts brain function.

 

Tip #5 Do A Quick Movement Program At Home

Don’t just “exercise”. That is a tool you use to get in shape. Instead frame your intention to move your body to become a better mover. Don’t you want to move like a 20 year old even when you are an 80 year old? Trust me, at 80 you will be more motivated to be able to move than to be able to flash a six pack.

So set the intention to become a better mover. This will already get your mind away from “exercising” and selecting what body part to work today. Life works every part when you move. So why segment your movement training by body parts? Instead train movement quality, movement stability, movement efficiency and let the side effect be a lean healthy body. Tip # 6 Set “Infinity Goals” As Well As “Smart Goals”

So most people know about “Smart Goals”. They are the Specific, Measureable, Action Oriented, Realistic, and Timely goals.  These are the typical goals you may have been taught to set.  However you want to balance these types of goals with “Infinity Goals”.

Infinity Goals are goals you set that are so big and so power and so unobtainable your very fabric of who you are becomes shaken, awakened, and motivated. These are the goals that are not realistic, not timely, and not at all set by mere mortals. They are set by the inspired and powerful. Yes, that is YOU.  You can read more about this process here.

Tip # 7 Love Your Food

Ok, I don’t mean go and gorge a sea of cheesecake… I mean build a loving relationship with food. If you ever have these thoughts in your head after eating specific foods:

“Dammit, I should not have eaten that”

“This is so bad for me”

Then you can benefit from loving your food. Like any relationship this will take effort. It has nothing to do with diets or eating healthier. It has everything to do with your feelings can values as it relates to food. You can read more about how to love your food more here.

 

Tip # 8 Reduce Your Chemical Exposure

The average number of chemicals in our body that don’t belong there now averages 3000 for an adult and 240+ for newborn infants.  Yes, that is 3000 chemicals that are from our water, our food, our lotions, our soaps, our electronics, our environment.  Unlike the drug industry where each drug has to be proven safe for it to be released on the market. In the chemical industry, it’s the innocent until proven guilty approach.  That means new chemicals are released into our everyday products and are only pulled off the market once they realize it’s not safe.

BONUS Tip:  Find Your “Hidden Injuries” And Your Mental Obstacles

We all have them. Little aches in pains that are dormant in our bodies. Don’t think you have them? Try pushing on the inside and outside spots on your elbow, or at the front of the shoulder, or on the sides of your knees. You will probably find some tender points (they are not supposed to be tender).  Our muscle imbalances that are dormant can cause serious joint wear and tear in the future.

Chocolate benefits and why you should eat this kind

Not all chocolate is created equal. You may have heard that dark chocolate is better for you than the light kind.

 

However the biggest difference lies in the ingredients. If you look at your chocolate product and the ingredients say “cocoa” then you have just purchased the less healthy  kind of chocolate.  “Cocoa” is made by taking raw cacao and processing it with baking soda to remove the fat. This allows for your chocolate to melt better and be able to disperse in liquid better.

 

During this process the manufacturer will also add back in fats for taste and some sugar.  The chocolate is broken apart and chemically put back together for improved taste and consistency. While yummy for your tummy, this process takes a lot of the nutrients out and adds in chemicals.

 

Luckily there is a better option. There are a few companies that make good tasting chocolate from raw Cacao. One of my favorite companies is this Scared Heart.  They only use raw cacao and the chocolate is sweetened with maple syrup.  Why? Because maple syrup actually has a lot of anti-oxidants and nutrients (much more so than sugar).

Will power for weight loss – weight loss motivation

I’m a big fan of getting BIG results without “sacrifice” or “hard work”. Now I don’t mean we should sit back and do nothing. My approach is to do what feel right and find the lowest hanging fruit to get the most benefits.

Having studied health for 25 years, I’ve learned that there is one key factor that is over looked in our health.

So, research in the recent literature has proven that willpower is like a muscle. You probably know this instinctively if you’ve ever dieted before. Its something that you apply: willpower to not eat this food and stay away from that food. But eventually that muscle gives. It weakens and you give in to the willpower.

 

Here’s the problem, no muscle can contract and last forever. At some point it fatigues, just like no willpower will last forever, at some point it will fatigue. What happens when it fatigues is that you will go back and binge on those foods that you spent so much time depriving yourself of.

 

In fact the longer you hold out and refrain from eating those foods you love the more the your will power fatigues. Yes, you do lose weight by holding back. Yes, you can “cheat” here and there. But what has been the outcome in the long run. Your weight climbs back up and you feel horrible. Every time you go through this cycle, your strength and motivation weakens and you are left with a sense of failure.

 

Now I suggest a much better approach to dieting. You want to look at the food that you are told you typically can’t eat, and change your relationship with the food. It’s not bad food. Sure it’s less healthy. You might be eating that food for other reasons, not just for nourishment. Maybe it’s for stress reduction or to reduce anxiety. These comfort foods actually release happy hormones in your brain when you eat them because of the high sugar content. So these foods work very well to make you feel happy!

 

Now how do you change your relationship with that food?

Well, it’s all in your mind. The next time you look at your piece of cake that you love, your favorite comfort food – maybe it’s a hot dog, a hamburger, nachos, pizza, all the unhealthy foods we should not eat too frequently, I want you to do this.

 

I want you to look at that food, and I want you to close your eyes and picture a time where you are having great difficulty, great sadness, great stress, and great anxiety, and know that this food literally contributing to that.

 

When you are trying to lose weight, your body image, how you feel, and your health directly contribute to how happy you feel and your success rate. While that food may give you happiness for the moment, you know long term, that food is not giving you long-term happiness.

Find your motivation to lose weight

Your happiness is within you the whole time because you are an amazing soul!

baby-164897_640So I want you to embody that, and think about that. Don’t go for the immediate gratification and how you feel at that moment. Before you eat it, think about what that food means for you life-long. Look at that in your mind, picture it: the feeling that you have, the colors that you see.

 

The pictures of you seeing yourself not losing weight and being stressed, and the feelings associated with not being able to lose weight. All of that is embodied in that food at that moment. When you do this, it will change your relationship with the food. You will no longer try to crave it for immediate gratification. You will now make better choices about that food for long term.

 

I want you to repeat this. I want you to put your favorite food in front of you and try to elicit those feelings about how it feels in the future. The stress and the negative feelings down to the very colors, the sounds, the picture of your body, I want you to repeat that process. Every time that you do, you are changing your relationship with your food, and that is much better than willpower.

 

It is like using willpower to stay in a bad marriage. Don’t do that. Change the relationship. Work with the spouse, in this case you work with the food.
